Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 95RP, 93VN, 92DC, 91WE). James Suckling: "A layered and rich red with a light prune, plum and berry character, as well as hints of walnuts. Full-bodied, chewy and tannic yet showing polish and refinement. An almost iodine undertone. Better in 2016." (01/2015)

2014 Peter Michael "Point Rouge" Knights Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2014 Peter Michael "Point Rouge" Knights Valley Chardonnay (99RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Equally provocative and profound is the magnificent 2014 Chardonnay Point Rouge. Complex notes of tropical fruits intermixed with toast, smoked almonds, brioche and white peach are stunning in this prodigious, full-bodied, multidimensional Chardonnay. Both the 2015 and 2014 are 10- to 15-year wines, but extremely difficult to find in the marketplace. As I have mentioned in the past, readers should note the slight greenish hue to all of the Peter Michael Chardonnays, which seems to be a healthy sign of high-quality fruit and the chlorophyll from the vines. 2005 Agharta "Black Label" North Coast Syrah
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Agharta "Black Label" North Coast Syrah (95JD, 95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "After the mind-blowing 2004 Agharta Syrah, I had high expectations that it would be followed by additional great wines, and those hopes were answered with the 2005 Black Label, a blend of 97% Syrah, 2% Grenache and 1% Viognier. Aged 64 months (which must be a record in California) in 30% new French oak, it is another spectacular effort from winemaker/proprietor Pax Mahle. It boasts a gorgeously dense plum/purple color as well as stunning notes of black raspberries, gun flint, blackberries, licorice and camphor. This complex red builds incrementally on the palate resulting in a full-bodied, concentrated, complex wine that is bursting at the seams and loaded with potential. It should continue to evolve for another 12-15+ years. Drink through 2026. (RP) 95+" (02/2011)

2004 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Leonetti Columbia Valley Merlot (94RP, 93W&S, 92WE, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Though less powerful than the 2003, the aromatically floral 2004 Merlot holds its own in a qualitative comparison. Its nose of roses, wild berries, and cherries leads to a medium to full-bodied, pure core of spicy black cherries. (PR)" (04/2006)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 IX Estate is another perfect wine. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by copious aromas of blueberries, cassis, pen ink, asphalt, licorice and subtle oak. Full-bodied and rich but light on its feet, this spectacular effort was created from a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. 2013 Ovid "Experiment No. R8.3" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Ovid "Experiment No. R8.3" Napa Valley Red Blend. Ovid's "Experiment" bottling always changes, as the team at Ovid (you guessed it) experiments with different wines and is inspired by the characteristics of new yield. Producer tasting notes: "At Ovid, one of our original forms of experimentation was the way that we planted our vineyards in 2000. We used four different rootstocks and several grape varietals on each in order to explore how they perform on our little piece of Pritchard Hill in different growing and harvest conditions. The 2013 Experiment R8.3 wine is made from grapes grown predominantly on 3309 rootstock. 3309 is an established rootstock well regarded for its low to moderate vigor and production of smaller berries with more intense fruit flavors. Our 3309 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are always the first to ripen—an attribute we appreciate here in Napa Valley where grapes are harvested right up to the first big rains. 1980 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 1980 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (93BH, 92JG). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Not surprisingly 30 years later, this is much, much fresher in magnum, in fact so much so that it almost seems like a completely different wine. Bricked through. An elegant and wonderfully spicy nose offers up plenty of sous-bois, earth, dried rose petal and a hint of minerality that continues onto the delicious, focused and still relatively concentrated flavors that possess both style and grace before culminating in a refined, delicious and lingering finish. Like most '80s today, this is not a big or even especially powerful effort but the sense of underlying harmony and overall balance is impeccable." (11/2009)

2007 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 93JS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Les Pavots, a Bordeaux varietal blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, is brilliant. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by gorgeously complex aromas of melted chocolate, espresso roast, blackberries, and cassis. Full-bodied with a superb texture, a subtle note of oak, and fabulous concentration, it is more reminiscent of a Right Bank Bordeaux than one expects with this much Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain possesses a black/blue/purple color, and a texture of unctuosity and thickness. Greatness is suggested by a wonderfully sweet mid-section, gorgeous purity, and this humongous wine's overall symmetry. It also possesses sumptuous layers of concentration, remarkably sweet tannin, low acidity, and a 40+ second finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2040. (RP)" (01/2000)

2011 Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin "Ostrea"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin "Ostrea" (90VN). Vinous: "Weightless and gracious on the palate, the Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea is laced with raspberries, crushed flowers, mint and anise, all in a pointed, mid-weight style that is undeniably appealing. The lifted aromatics and beautifully articulated finish impart a sense of freshness that is quite appealing. From barrel, the Ostrea, which emerges from pre World War II parcels in Brochon, was quite a bit deeper. 2012 Ovid "Experiment No.L2.2" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Ovid "Experiment No.L2.2" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. Sometimes the best recipes are the ones concocted on the fly - a little of this, a dash of that. Well, winemakers engage in the same type of creativity that many of us do in the kitchen, though we're not usually privy to the final result. Ovid's "Experiment" wines are a chance to taste the process - a little vinous insight into explorations of the winery's vineyards and winemaking. Each offering is unique. 1975 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Gruaud-Larose, St-Julien. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This massive, backward wine appears to resist aging. Still bitterly tannic, impressively-colored (dark garnet with no amber), and monstrous on the palate, this wine will either turn out like the outstanding 1928 and begin to reveal some charm and character around age 40, or it will dry out, much like the 1948. It needs another 5-10 years of cellaring... It is likely to be appreciated only by the most patient Bordeaux enthusiasts. I would not be surprised to see some wine writer touting its greatness around 2025, long after most of it had been consumed and found to be pleasureless. Owners should try not to touch a bottle before 2005. Drink through 2025. (RP)" (02/1996)

1971 Latour, Pauillac
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1971 Latour, Pauillac (95JG, 94RP, 93JS, 93VN). John Gilman: "As I mentioned above, the 1971 vintage of Latour was in that first small cache of the estate’s wines that I bought back in the mid-1980s, and I have searched out and drunk this wine with great regularity up until only a couple of years ago, when the wine market woke up to its excellence and prices started to move up rather dramatically. It still looks like a stunning value when one considers that the still very backward 2005 was released ex-cellar for 670 euros a bottle, and only a few years back, this gorgeous wine could still be found around $200 a bottle. The wine is classic Latour, offering up a black fruity bouquet of dark berries, cassis, cigar ash, walnuts, gravelly soil tones, a nice touch of meatiness and a plenty smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and now wide open and fully mature, with a fine core, lovely soil signature, melting, suave tannins and lovely length

This shows Mission Haut-Brion-like characteristics as it has in the past, with crushed rock, wet gravel, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit. It is clearly one of my favorites of this entire tasting. It has 14.5% natural alcohol and was aged in 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud barrels. This is a killer effort. (RP)" (10/2016)

Fashioned from the estate’s finest Cabernet lots, it possesses terrific ripeness, a silky, plush texture, a big, full-bodied, broad, savory, deep, well-textured mouthfeel, and a 45-second finish. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1934 Viuva José Gomes da Silva & Filhos Colares Riserva Velho. The little-known region of Colares enjoyed a brief time in the sun in the first few decades of the 20th century, as it was one of the few European wine regions to escape the ravages of phylloxera, thanks to its sandy soils and coastal climate. The also little-known Ramisco varietal is and was the resident grape for the region's winemakers. Gomes da Silva & Filhos is undoubtedly the most famous and most widely available producer from this region, with vintages from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s routinely wowing collectors and geeks across the online wine community (just check out the threads on Cellar Tracker and Wine Berserkers to get a sense of what these wines are capable of). The flavors are extremely rich, sweet and wonderfully concentrated with a deep, very sweet essence of pinot finish that still retains glimpses of its former power. The tannins are fully resolved and the finish is nothing but pure silk and velvet. Tasted many times and while there is some bottle variation, well-stored bottles are consistently marvelous." Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A typical Meursault nose of acacia blossom, hazelnut, pear and white peach introduces precise and intense medium-bodied flavors that possess a really lovely mouth feel thanks to the abundant dry extract. There is good breadth if only slightly better than average depth to the dry but not particularly austere finish. A solid if not truly exceptional villages." (06/2013)

2013 Aubert Carneros Chardonnay
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Aubert Carneros Chardonnay. A limited bottling of Carneros Chardonnay that isn't vineyard designated. Robert Parker writes of the winery: "It sounds like a broken record, but Mark Aubert is certainly one of a handful of California’s finest practitioners of Burgundy-styled, classic California Chardonnays... Mark Aubert had an impressive resumé long before he became this famous, mentored by Helen Turley when he was at Peter Michael, and from there spending impressive tenures at Colgin and Tom Futo’s winery before he went off bound for glory. I am a big buyer of these wines every year, and often serve the wines to strangers at charity events. They are consistently the favorites that people taste. All of Aubert’s wines tend to push about 15% natural alcohol as he is not shy about ripeness, but they also have great acids." (12/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Arnaud Ente Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Champs Gains" (94JG, (91-93BH)). John Gilman: " The aromatic and flavor profile of the 2016 Champ Gains is far more mineral than the beautiful fruit tones displayed by the Referts in this vintage, thought the overall quality of the two wines is very much the same. The 2016 Champgains offers up a deep and transparent bouquet of apple, yellow fruit, very complex, stony minerality, bee pollen and a nice touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and again fairly reserved in profile, with rock solid core, excellent focus and balance and vibrant backend mineral drive on the very long finish that augurs beautifully for this wine’s evolution in bottle. Great juice in the making. 94+" (11/2017)

It is rich, full-bodied, intense, and stunningly pure and well-balanced. This is another tour de force from the Schraders and Thomas Rivers Brown. It should drink well for 25-30 years as well. They are gorgeous Pinots that have a high quality/value ratio. The 1994 Pinot Noir Octagon Vineyard (10% stems are retained in this cuvee during the fermentation) is slightly more expensive than the 1994 Pinot Noir Estate as only 100 cases were produced from Dehlinger's minuscule hilltop vineyard (located near an old, spooky house that the locals refer to as the Bates Motel). Vinous: "The 2012 Beauséjour Heritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is simply magnificent. Succulent black cherries, hard candy, savory herbs, smoke, licorice and tobacco all burst from the glass in a rich, voluptuous, concentrated wine. The tannins are there, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Grilled herbs, smoke, cedar and tobacco meld into the explosive, resonant finish. The 2012 is 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc that spent 16-18 months in French oak, 75% new. There are a number of talented people who work on the Beauséjour wines, including Nicolas Thienpont, David Suire, Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu, but the most important thing is the terroir. And it is world class. Vivid and beautifully sculpted throughout, the 2012 has closed down since I last tasted it, about four months ago. There is little doubt it is one of t

1999 Falesco "Marciliano" Umbria
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1999 Falesco "Marciliano" Umbria (94RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The first vintage of Riccardo Cotarella's newest baby is the 1999 Marciliano. Aged 16 months in 100% new French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, this 70% Cabernet Sauvignon/30% Cabernet Franc blend already displays a fabulous, complex fragrance of lavender, mint, creme de cassis, licorice, spice box, and toasty oak. Dense, with great fruit and richness on the attack, extraordinary elegance and precision, and a long, layered finish, it is not as hedonistic as the Montiano, but it is potentially more complex, with more subtlety and nuances. Like the Montiano, the Marciliano is a wine of first-growth quality, and deserves serious attention. (RP)" (12/2002)

2010 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96RP, 94ST, 93VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more perfumed and up-front aromatically, the 2010 Broken Stones is a brilliant effort. A multi-vineyard blend of 63% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache, and 3% Petite Sirah that was aged mostly in new French oak, it offers up a gorgeously pure array of black raspberry, charcoal, licorice, lavender, and assorted floral qualities on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied, deft, and elegant palate that has no hard edges, a weightless feel, and masses of fine, yet firm tannin on the finish. Give bottles another year or three, and then drink over the following 12-15 years. (JD)" (07/2014)

1997 Domaine Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru "Clos"
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Domaine Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru "Clos" ((93-95RP), 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Raveneau's 1997 Chablis Les Clos is undoubtedly grand vin. It offers a plethora of nuanced aromas, including lemons, minerals, flint, clay, and flowers. On the palate, this expansive, powerful, and mouth-coating wine exhibits extraordinary purity to its liquid mineral-dominated flavors. It possesses mind-boggling focus and length. Wines from Les Clos, considered by many to be Chablis' finest vineyard, have a tendency to gain power and body with cellaring. I predict that this presently lace-like yet extremely flavorful and expressive effort will blossom into a wine of considerable depth and richness. (RP)" (06/1999)

2003 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Saxum "Bone Rock - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (96RP, 94WE, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More sweet, ripe and up-front, with a downright sexy profile, the 2003 James Berry Vineyard Bone Rock checks in as a blend of 88% Syrah, 8% Grenache and 4% Mourvedre. From a hot vintage and a time when producers were pushing on the ripeness scale, this blockbuster pulls it off in style and offers up loads of sweet blackberry and kirsch fruit, dried flowers, incense, garrigue and licorice-like aromas and flavors. Showing tons of sweet fruit on the palate, with full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannin and a great finish, it’s made in an unabashedly pedal-to-the-metal style that won’t appeal to everyone, but I’m a fan. It should continue to put a smile on everyone’s face for another 3-5 years. (JD)" (07/2014)

2007 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 95ST, 94VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 is a dense bluish purple blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. It displays beautifully perfumed blue and black fruits intermixed with some pen ink, acacia flowers, and black raspberries. Gorgeous, subtle smoke and a floral character follow through into the sweet tannins of this full-bodied, opulent wine, which builds incrementally and has a gloriously luxurious texture. There’s not one trace of astringency to this seamlessly wrought wine, which is the liquid equivalent of haute couture. Already drinking well, it should continue to evolve for two decades or more. This operation has elicited considerable acclaim, given the talent involved. (RP)" (12/2010)

2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco
Bid on this 12-bottle lot of 2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco (93RP, 93W&S, 93WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted this wine after bottling but before its commercial release. The 2015 Barbaresco will hit the market on September 1st. It was scheduled to be released in October, but because Produttori del Barbaresco is already out of stock of the 2014 Barbaresco, they decided to move this release up and shorten waiting times. I mention that because you definitely don't want to pop the cork too early. The 2015 vintage opens to a visibly darker color and thicker concentration compared to recent past vintages. Next to the upcoming 2016 and 2017 editions, we can expect 2015 to be the most fruit-forward of the three. You get dark tones of plum and blackberry with dry tannins at the rear. (ML)" (06/2018)

2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Merlot (95RP, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Merlot is deep crimson-colored with alluring aromas of pain grille, spice box, cranberry, red currant, and black currant. This leads to an opulent Merlot with gobs of spicy red and black fruits, silky tannins that will support 4-6 years of further evolution, superb balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It will provide prime-time drinking from 2012 to 2025. Quilceda Creek Vintners remains a model of consistency. In the outstanding 2005 vintage, Quilceda Creek’s Cabernet Sauvignon remains the benchmark for what can be achieved in Washington and the United States. (JM)" (06/2008)
