2015 Torti Barbera Oltrepo Pavese

90 points James Suckling: "A very pretty and fruity barbera with flavors of cherries and raspberries, as well as a hint of vanilla highlighting the medium body. Fresh acidity, too. A delicious wine. Drink now. " (06/2018) K&L Notes: The Barbera grapes for this wine were grown in vineyards dating back to the early 19th century. It's a vibrant ruby red in the glass with a dry, full body. Thanks to the long growing season in this northern part of Italy, the wine develops gorgeous acid that makes it a perfect accompaniment to roasted and braised meats.

2017 J. Runquist Amador County Barbera

Connoisseurs Guide: "Both ripe and zesty with plenty of well-integrated, underlying acidity working to brighten its slightly sweet, mildly minerally fruit, this clean and straightfoward youngster toes the varietal line from front to back, and, if neither as rich nor as complex as its companion 'Reserve' sibling, is an honest, well-rendered Barbera that will provide useful drinking now and over the next couple of years with pastas bathed in meaty ragus. *Good Value*" (10/2019) K&L Notes: Winemaker's notes: "I can't spend much time in our tasting room be ...

2016 Cascina Alberta "Tres" Barbera d'Alba Superiore

91 points Decanter: " Intense whiffs of dark cherry, liquorice, leather and lavender, and amazingly fresh and vibrant palate, generously fruited, with satisfying balsamic finish. " (05/2019) K&L Notes: This 100% Barbera is hand harvested from vines that range in age from 20-30 years. 2016 Agostino Pavia "Bricco Blina" Barbera d'Asti

No oak here, just very zesty and ripe Barbera fruit. Bricco Blina is the most straightforward of the three single-vineyard Barberas made at Agostino Pavia. This is the epitome of the bright acidity and berry flavor that are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give wonderful depth and concentration, too. Notes from the importer: "'Blina' is the name of the vineyard. This wine is a direct, straightforward rendition of the Barbera grape. Fresh acidity and berry flavors are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give this ...

2016 Agostino Pavia Barbera d'Asti "La Marescialla"

97 points Decanter: "This is a cracking Barbera, modern in style with elegant black fruit and chocolate aromatics. Very rich, opulent and concentrated palate; powerful but not overwhelming, with enough acidity to balance the fruit and well-integrated oak. Spicy, lingering finish. Delicious stuff!" (05/2019)

2015 Cascina Ca' Rossa "Vigna Mulassa" Barbera d'Alba

Ca'Rossa was founded in 1967 when Alfonso Ferrio bought a small farmhouse and estate growing hazelnuts, vegetables, and raising chickens. Cascina Ca Rossa is located in the Roero area of Piemonte. With calcareous soils, high temperatures and very little rain, the area was under vine during the Roman era, home to Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis, a scented, dry white grape. At Cascina Ca Rossa, two distinct styles of wine are produced. The first style which could be considered "normale", pertains to vintage dated wines that are fermented in steel barrels and ...

2015 Agostino Pavia "Moliss" Barbera d'Asti

90 points Decanter: "Fragrant black cherry aromas. Juicy, ripe and expressive, with good freshness. This is rustic and polished at the same time. A well made, simple and easy-drinking style." (05/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of underbrush, dark berry and leather lead the nose. The savory palate offers juicy blackberry, star anise and white pepper alongside polished tannins and fresh acidity. (KO)" (10/2018) K&L Notes: Agostino Pavia and his sons Giuseppe ('Pino') and Mauro make two styles of Barbera from two different single vineyards, less than fi ...

2010 Roberto Voerzio Barbera d'Alba Riserva "Vigneto Pozzo dell'Annunziata" (1.5L)

96 points James Suckling: "This is always one of the best Barbera d'Albas. The 2010 Pozzo (notice the change in the name due to changes in Italian appellation laws) shows fabulous density and depth with wet earth, dark berries and loads of mineral character. It's full-bodied with bright and creamy acidity plus a long, long finish. Only in magnums. Fantastic." (11/2014) 95 points Vinous: "The 2010 Barbera d'Alba Pozzo is stunningly beautiful. Violets, lavender, dark cherries, plums, tobacco and menthol all flesh out in an aboslutely impeccable, gracious ...

Offering ample mouthfeel and full-fruit flavors amidst slightly grippy tannins, this wine wraps up in a lasting cherry finish. (MD)" (12/2017) Wine & Spirits: "A blend of Barbera and Syrah, this is juicy and plummy, with a salted-caramel sweetness. It’s a simple, welcoming red for charred beef kabobs." (08/2018)
