2012 du Glana, St-Julien

90 points James Suckling: "Fine and silky with pretty aromas and flavors of currants and stones. Medium body, dense fruit and fine tannins. Racy finish." (02/2015) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Features a smoldering charcoal edge, with focused plum, cassis and bitter cherry fruit forming the core. Sleek, with iron and loam notes underscoring the finish. 2009 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The all-time greatest wine I have ever tasted from Saint-Pierre, this estate, the smallest of the grand cru classes of St.-Julien, has an opaque purple color and a spectacular nose of subtle charcoal, creme de cassis, blackberry, and incense. Full-bodied, with striking intensity and flamboyantly rich, exuberant flavors bursting with extract, the St. Pierre has no hard edges, but rather massive, incredibly well-endowed blockbuster style, which should prove to be monumental. 2009 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The greatest wine I’ve ever tasted from this address is the 2009 Léoville Poyferré, which is a step up over both the 2000 and the 2010. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and the balance Cabernet Franc that hit 13.9% alcohol, it offers everything you could ask of a wine and reveals a saturated purple color as well as incredible notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, lead pencil, exotic Spices, and dried flowers. 2015 Talbot, St-Julien

94 points James Suckling: "A big, rich wine for St. Julien with plenty of power and concentration, which enables it to carry plenty of spicy and toasty oak. The tannins need some time to soften, but the elegant finish says that from 2020 this should really impress." (02/2018) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine seems to be all about structure and tannins. The fruit comes through slowly and has a way to go in its development. But black currants are there, ripe and promising well for the future. Just don’t drink before 2025. (RV)" (12/2017) 93 points ...

It shows elegant and pretty fruit character and a reserve and finesse of such great years as 1989 and 1995. The bright strong acidity gives a crunchy and creamy texture. This has a tiny bit more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend than 2009. Give it at least six to eight years of bottle age." (02/2013) 99 points Robert Parker's Wine ...

A very classy red that isn't shy about its power but pushes its purity to the fore. Best from 2024 through 2039. Rose petal, lavender, mint, sweet red berry and gently spiced notes give the wine much of its gracious, lilting personality. Precise and nuanced to the core, the 2015 Branaire is all class. It's easy to overlook Brainaire in the context of Saint-Julien, where most of the other important wines are much more powerful. Branaire always speaks with a hushed, discreet voice. The fineness of Langoa is there, and should be more apparent in ten years' time." 2009 Langoa-Barton, St-Julien (375ml)

94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Langoa-Barton has a gorgeous bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, cedar and light tobacco aromas that blossom from the glass. This feels so composed and pure. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine-grain tannin, beautifully judged acidity and a svelte, languorous finish that fans out with style. What a gorgeous and utterly seductive Saint-Julien. It turns out to be Langoa Barton, a wine that I have rated very highly in the past. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
