2017 Domaine Thierry et Pascale Matrot Meursault 1er Cru "Perrieres"

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from 56-year-old vines and fermented and aged in barrel, the 2017 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru is a gem in the lineup and certainly delivers the goods. Offering a vivid bouquet of white flowers and stone and citrus fruits, beautiful wet stone and flinty minerality, and some salty seaside notes, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, racy yet integrated acidity, and a crisp, lengthy finish. It’s a brilliant, perfectly balanced Meursault that almost has a Chassagne-Montrachet-like purity and elegance. " (04/2019) 95 ...

Top Pick!
2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Meursault

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hailing from the lieux-dits Les Clous and Moulin Landin, the 2017 Meursault unfurls in the glass with pretty aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus oil, hazelnut cream and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, with an elegantly textural attack, a good core of fruit and crisp acids. What's more, there are fully eleven barrels this year. (WK)" (04/2019) 91 points John Gilman: "It is not just the Auxey blanc cuvées chez Lafouge that have excellent cut and grip on 2017, ...

2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Meursault "Les Casses-Têtes"

92 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Meursault “Casse Têtes” from Domaine Lafouge is also excellent on both the nose and palate. The bouquet delivers a classic blend of pear, apple, passion fruit, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and a bit more reserved today than the Meix Chavaux, with a fine core, lovely focus and cut and impressive lift on the long and nascently complex finish. This too is excellent." (12/2018) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Meursault L ...

2017 Domaine Paul Pernot Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru "La Piece Sous le Bois"

88-91 points Vinous: "Bright lemon-yellow color. More exotic yellow fruits on the nose, along with an element of smoky oak (about 20% new in 2017). In a distinctly fatter style than the village Puligny, offering good concentration and a suggestion of honeyed ripeness to its ripe yellow fruit flavors. A bit more phenolic and less refined on the finish, but shows good length and a firm stony underpinning. (ST)" (09/2018) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The latest rendition of a bottling Pernot has produced sine 1973, the 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1 ...

2017 Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot Meursault "Les Pellans"

Jean-Marc Boillot's village-level Meursault bottling is from the single lieu-dit of Les Pellans in 2017. He describes the vintage in Vinous.com: "Jean-Marc Boillot described his 2017 white wines as 'taut like the 2016s, but with larger quantities, except in the premier crus,' where he produced only around 40 hectoliters per hectare due to hot weather during the flowering. He added that pHs are similar in the two vintages, at around 3.3. Boillot has long been obsessed with making focused, clean wines. He works with the same three cultured yeasts, which en ...

2017 Domaine Thierry et Pascale Matrot Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes"

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another one of the gems in the lineup is the 2017 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru, a more upfront, powerful wine compared to the more inward Puligny-Montrachet Les Chalumeaux. Crushed citrus, white peach, crushed rocks, celery seed, and a beautiful salinity all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, juicy, layered, incredibly pure and layered white that does everything right. It also needs air to show at its best, and I suspect won’t hit prime time for another 4-5 years, but it should evolve beautifully over the following decade or mor ...

2017 Domaine Thierry & Pascale Matrot Meursault

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Bottled under screw cap, the 2017 Meursault offers a crisp, salty bouquet that’s very much in the style of the vintage. White fruits, oysters shell, and crushed citrus notes all emerge from this juicy, medium-bodied, racy 2017 that has integrated acidity, beautiful fruit, and a great finish." (04/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A lean, lime-infused style, with some reductive, sel gris and iodine notes playing off the stony mineral element. Fine length. Decant now, or cellar for a few months. Drink now through 2024." (06/2019) ...

2016 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Meursault

91 points John Gilman: "This is a great village wine and my favorite of the three top Côte de Beaune white ACs in 2016. The very pretty and complex nose delivers fine purity in its classic blend of apple, pear, almond, bee pollen, chalky soil tones and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and beautifully balanced, with a lovely core and a very elegant, long and zesty finish. A beautiful bottle of Meursault. 2017 Maison Olivier Leflaive Meursault

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A cool and overtly smoky nose features notes of hazelnut, floral, citrus and a soft application of wood influence. The clean, intense and precise flavors are quite tightly focused while exuding evident minerality on the racy, linear and beautifully well-detailed finish that is quite dry but not really austere. Large-scaled, tactile yet precise, this beauty finishes with terrific palate-saturating length and verve. Boasts the classic wet-stone minerality of this great premier cru--and it tastes more concentrated than its yield of 45 hectoliters per hectare would suggest. Pale, scented and well balanced, it has spicy 15% new wood, good texture and weight, and notes of citrus and beeswax. Drinking Window 2020-2025. Here too the palate impression of the middle weight flavors is energetic while once again offering a step up in refinement along with more minerality if perhaps not quite the same richness on the youthfully austere bitter-lemon inflected finish. John Gilman: "The 2016 Clos des Ambres shows all of the refinement and elegance that is inherent in this vintage range from Monsieur Ente. The nose jumps from the glass in a very floral and esthery mix of pear, apple, hazelnuts, chalky soil tones, fruit blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very mineral in personality, with a lovely core of fruit, fine focus and grip, bright acids and a very long, complex and electric finish. This is not a powerful wine by any means, but a wine of complexity, precision and purity that is lithe and intense, rather than muscular. A gorgeous wine. Drink between 2021-2045." (12/2017)

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "Clos de Ambres" (93JG, (89-91BH), 90RP, 90ST, 90VN). John Gilman: "The Clos des Ambres bottling in ’07 takes the beautiful depth and precision of the Meursault village and adds more dimension, more precision and a crystalline glaze over both the fruit and the soil expressions and produces one of the most beautiful young Meursaults I have had the pleasure to taste. The bouquet is a deep, pure and very classic expression of Meursault, as it delivers a stunning blend of apples, orange, lemon oil, brilliantly complex minerality and a pungent topnote of citrus blossoms. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, rock solid at the core and very tensile, with brilliant focus and cut, just perfect balance and a very long, quite reserved and crystalline finish. A beautiful bottle of Meursault." (01/2009)

2005 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "La Sève du Clos"
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "La Sève du Clos" (96JG, (91-93BH), 93ST). John Gilman: "This is the very old vine bottling from Monsieur Ente’s parcel in en l’Ormeau, with the vines now over one hundred years of age. I was very intrigued that he decided to serve this next in the lineup, as this is normally the last Meursault served, but he explained that he wanted to continue with the same terroir in the progression. This has typically been his best wine year in and year out, and the 2007 is pure magic. The bouquet is flat out brilliant, as it explodes from the glass in a haze of iodine, orange, passion fruit, lime zest, kaleidoscopic minerality, a touch of hazelnut, spring flowers and perhaps somewhere in all these aromatic fireworks there is a touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and backward, with a rock solid core of fruit, an unbelievable blade of minerality, and stunning length and grip on the racy, tensile and laser-like finish

(Ente's Bourgogne Aligoté offers an aromatic nose of orange oil and flowers and a chewy, sappy palate impression, with a surprisingly fleshy old-vines richness to buffer its impression of tautness. The very complex bouquet is excellent, as it offers up scents of apple, lemon, orange, great minerality, a touch of iodine, hints of the nuttiness to come, vanillin oak and a topnote of apple blossoms. John Gilman: " I was a tad worried that the other Meursault bottlings in the cellar might suffer after the profound La Sève de Clos, but no problems. The 2007 Petits Charrons is also stunning this year, as it soars from the glass in a classic blend of iodine apple, passion fruit, wet stones, hazelnuts, apple blossoms and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, crisp and beautifully balanced, with great mid-palate depth, lovely generosity on the attack, and a stellar, stony and very snappy backend that clearly shows that this wine is on its way up to cruising altitude, and as good as it is to drink today, another four or five years of bottle age will be very, very richly rewarded. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Arnaud Ente Meursault "La Sève du Clos" ((90-92BH), 92RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are five barrels this year of Ente’s 2007 Meursault Le Seve du Clos from ancient vines in the Ormeau, as compared with just three in 2006. Musky, narcissus-like florality and ocean breeze salinity and alkalinity in the nose are joined by lemon, yellow plum, white peach, and high-toned herbal essences on a persistently invigorating and mouth-wateringly saline palate, virtually fat-free -- though boasting a slick of glycerin -- and athletic in its leanness and energy. The mineral matter here seems to stick to my teeth, not to mention my gums, along with toasty and faintly bitter notes of nuts and peach kernel. Ethereal floral and herbal distillates and an almost electric tingling of citrus add allure to the wine's formidable, penetrating finish. (DS)" (12/2009)
